小学生打篮球应该用几号球

For children aged 6 to 8 who are just starting with basketball, a size 5 ball is the most suitable. At this stage, their hands are smaller and they have less strength, so a size 5 basketball, weighing around 500g, helps them quickly get used to the ball, improving their ball sense and boosting their interest in the game.

Students aged 9 and above, usually in 4th grade, have had more exposure to basketball and are stronger. If they have decent coordination and some technical foundation, a size 6 ball is recommended. A size 5 ball might feel too small and restrictive for them at this level.

In official elementary school competitions, both men's and women's teams use size 5 basketballs. However, the standard changes in middle school: women's teams use size 6 balls, while men's teams use the standard size 7 balls. This progression aligns with the players' physical development.

Understanding basketball sizes is key for choosing the right equipment. Size 7 is the standard for men's competitions (600-650g, 75-76cm circumference), Size 6 is for women's (510-550g, 70-71cm), Size 5 is for youth (470-500g, 69-71cm), and Size 4 is for children (300-340g, 56-57cm). Knowing these specs helps in making the right choice.
